The school choir is open to all children in Key Stage 2, with every pupil warmly encouraged to take part. The choir meets weekly at lunchtime to rehearse a diverse range of songs, developing pupils’ singing and performance skills, confidence and enjoyment of music. Throughout the year, choir members perform for the school community and families at a variety of events and celebrations. A key highlight of our choir programme is participation in the Let’s Go Sing project, where pupils learn a wide repertoire of songs before joining children from schools across Lancashire to perform on stage at King George’s Hall, Blackburn. This exciting opportunity allows pupils to experience the thrill of singing as part of a large massed choir in a professional performance venue.
Let's Go Sing!® is an innovative project which offers a fantastic opportunity for primary school pupils and teachers alike. They specialise in creating original songs that are perfectly suited for young voices aged 7-11. Their songs are fun, easy to learn and children just love singing them!
With a diverse collection of thought-provoking themes and topics, the songs are written in various musical styles such as pop, Rock, musical theatre, ballad, and even rap! This project not only promotes music education to the highest standard, it meets several aims of the National Curriculum for Music.
Keyboards
A group of Year 5 pupils are offered the opportunity to attend weekly keyboard lessons during lunchtime. Through these sessions, children develop their keyboard-playing skills while also learning to read and interpret musical notation. The lessons help pupils build confidence, musical understanding and performance skills through practical, hands-on learning. Throughout the year, the group has opportunities to showcase their achievements by performing for the wider school community and for families at school events and celebrations.
Guitars
We are delighted to be launching a new after-school Guitar Club, which will meet weekly and provide a group of Year 6 pupils with the opportunity to learn to play the guitar. Through engaging and practical sessions, children will develop their instrumental skills, musical understanding and confidence as performers. As the club develops, pupils will have opportunities to share their learning by performing for the wider school community and for families at school events and celebrations, showcasing the progress they have made and fostering a love of music.

Choir
Our school choir is very popular! We enjoy taking part in the Let's Go Sing project every year, giving us the opportunity to learn lots of new songs and perform with children from other schools across the county. We meet every Monday lunchtime to practise songs for this concert, and to prepare for concerts in school at Christmas and the end of the year.

Children in Year 6 are learning to play the keyboard. We meet on Tuesday lunchtimes and really enjoy our time playing together.

Choir
This year we took part in a special Let's Go Sing concert at The Opera House, Winter Gardens in Blackpool. We had such a wonderful time performing all the songs!
We also enjoy performing in school, and we sang a variety of Christmas songs for everyone during MADD week.
As a reward for all our hard work, we went to Burnley College in December to watch their panto Sleeping Beauty, and in February we watched their performance of Beauty and the Beast. They were great and gave us inspiration for our own performance skills!

2023-2024
On 4th March 2024, our school choir performed at King George’s Hall in Blackburn, alongside hundreds of children from other schools across Lancashire.
We had such a fantastic time, singing and dancing together!

As a reward for all their hard work, and to be further inspired, members of the choir went to Burnley College to watch their performance of the Wizard of Oz.

Asda
Members of the school choir sang Christmas songs at Asda. Lots of the customers told us how happy we had made them and some of them joined in singing with us. One lady even cried, but she said they were happy tears! People bought chocolates for us and we raised lots of money for the Tickled Pink charity.
